Further Information

Jóhanna and Guðný have been best friends for 17 years and they are now collaborating and publishing their first children’s book! The book is called The Mountain Goat who was Afraid of Heights and, as the title explains, it tells the story of a mountain goat who is afraid of heights and the problems that arise because of it. It’s an encouraging book for children from the age of three to nine. The core message is that we can deal with our feelings without repressing them or feeling ashamed.

The idea behind the story of the mountain goat is inspired by Jóhanna’s own experience of anxiety and the shame it can lead to. She believes that it is very important to eradicate the shame that can follow such tough feelings. „In order for that to happen we have to give these emotions value and recognize them when children are quite young,” she says. Guðný is an art student and does the illustrations for the book. She has grown very fond of painting with watercolours and found it appropriate to illustrate the story of Sóla, the mountain goat, with that technique.

This book sends a vital message into our modern society, since the numbers of those suffering from depression and anxiety have increased over the past decades.

With your contribution we will be able to print the first copies and pay our Graphic designers.
