Further Information

The idea is to make episodes for youtube. Smári Stefánsson will bring a camera man to different parts of Iceland where he will ski with locals. The idea is to ski lines that are difficult and don´t get many visits or maybe even some first descents. The episodes will present the preparation on the day before, the talk and evaluations on the way up and some nice skiing on the way down.

The camera man (who also will do all the editing) is Norris Niman. He has worked alot with filming and editing for many companies such as Fischer, Arc´teryx so we can expect the film work to be good. Norris is also a good skier which is important in a project like this one

Smári has been skiing since he could walk and has skitoured since 2004. He holds a masters degree in outdoor education and has taught in that subject in universities in Iceland and Norway since 2006. He thrives best at the top of a nice ski descent and it´s even better if it hasn´t been skied before. Smári holds a few first descents such as Hlöðufell.

After having watched "the fifty project" on youtube the idea of doing something similar in Iceland was born. The idea has had some time to develop and mature and now it´s time for action.

It´s obvious that a project like this costs some money if you want to do it well and without any external funding this will not be possible. This funding is for us to make a pilot and hopefully more episodes will follow. It is therefore our sincere hope that the skiing community will step up and help us make this project possible to do.
