Further Information

The songs are for lyre and voice and have been carried, nourished and born over the last decade in Germany and Iceland.
They are characterized by the intimate and genuine interplay between lyre and voice.
The songs are in Icelandic and reflect life between moments and eternity.

The composition of the lyrics just as the synergy between sound and voice build up a compact, yet vivid entity.
Even if the lyrics play an important role, it is Inga´s music that opens the space between the lines and brings the silence, that seldom is mute, to new life.

This music calms your soul, plays softly on your inner strings and wakes a gentle awareness for new ways of listening.

Recordings take place in August. Stefán Örn Gunnlaugsson is in charge of recording and mixing.

Concerts are planned as a follow-up to give the audience the possibility to experience the music and the lyre live on stage.

In order to realize the design, production, release and promotion of the record I need your support.

I am very grateful for your support. Thank you ever so much.

Few words about the lyre

There is something magic around that instrument which is able to listen and tell stories at the same time.

From early childhood on has music been around me, in all various forms. When I discovered the lyre during my studies in Berlin she immediately became the center of my creative work.

The lyre is unique and occupies a special niche in the instrumental environment. Her sound concentrates and spreads widely at once. These manifold qualities have been guiding my composing and songwriting.

The roots of the lyre date back to the oldest known string instruments. Nevertheless was her nowadays appearance only shaped in the 1920s in Germany in cooperation between instrument makers, music therapists and musicians. Today the lyre is used worldwide for composing music, in therapies and for teaching.

Inga Björk Ingadóttir

is an Icelandic composer, lyre player and singer. She is also a music therapist and a teacher and runs her own praxis Hljóma in Hafnarfjördur, Iceland. Inga Björk started her musical life already in early childhood. She sang even before she would speak her first words. She studied the piano and graduated from Kópavogur music school where she learned as well composition and electronic music. From 2001 to 2006 she studied music therapy in Berlin. During her studies she discovered the lyre as her key instrument and started developing her own distinguished interplay between lyre and voice. She performes in various concerts in Iceland, Germany and the Netherlands.

"When I first heard Inga’s singing and lyre playing I was captivated by the lovely sound. Her voice intertwining with the lyre tones creates a unique sound world which deserves to be heard widely".
