Further Information

Last summer I went on an expedition to Bíldudalur in the west fjords of Iceland, a three month research which I wrote about as an online travel diary called "Bildalian Chronicles". In the travel diary I combined the local history of Bíldudalur with fictional accounts.

"Bildalia" merged with the Icelandic new independent state after the Second World War, after it had been an independent state at the outer regions of the west fjords in Iceland since the end of the eighteenth century. This little land where time has stood still since the beginning of the last century is isolated most of the year. During the nine months of winter, it can only be reached by sea or air, and in the short summer the mountain roads can only be met by all-terrain vehicles.

In this land many worlds meet and mysterious forces lurk in its deep fjords and deserted valleys.

I have dressed the story in the costume of steampunk or retro-futuristic in the spirit of Jules Verne, which has in the last decade become a popular approach for fiction, design, and music.

Last summer I had about three thousand visits to my webpage from all over the world. Many letters and questions followed and I have made contacts who will participate in  future adventures.
The book will be published this spring. It will be largely illustrated with drawings and photos. The eBook-version of the chronicles will contain videos and links to more material. At the same time a webpage will be opened, which will be the official webpage for Bildalia - the land where worlds meet. On that page it will be possible to get an online passport and virtually take up residence in Bildalia, participate in future adventures, and become a figure in the forthcoming chronicles of Bildalia.
The adventure continues online this summer and on the Bildalian web it will be possible to follow the local news, influence the story in the chat room, get knowledge about the monsters of the sea, elves in the hills and ghosts in the abandoned farmhouses. There will be an interactive map on the web where all the important places are marked, where the visitor can get information, play games or solve riddles of the paranormal.
And, of course, one can always visit Bíldudalur in person.

-------- Icelandic description -----------

Sincerely;
Ingimar Oddsson
