Hello everyone,
My new album Ironclad and Palm Trees is finally out and available to listen to online.
This record has been a two-year journey, made in close collaboration with my band and many incredibly talented people along the way. It is a culturally interwoven, folk-leaning, multilingual album inspired by Icelandic and Mexican poetry, shaped by migration, memory, and the influence of my two homelands: Iceland and Mexico.
The title Ironclad & Palm Trees symbolises the cultural duality at the heart of Andervel’s work: the ironclad houses of Reykjavík and the palm trees of my hometown, Querétaro. The title reflects the album’s multilingual, multicultural nature.
I’m very proud of what we’ve created, and I would love to bring it to life on vinyl- With your help we could make that a reality.
Producing an album is not cheap, and folk music doesn’t always come with the most generous financial returns. So I’ve put together a few ways for anyone who feels inclined to help support the vinyl production.
If you choose to contribute through one of the available options, I’ll be deeply grateful- and you’ll receive a beautiful green vinyl copy of the album, along with a few additional surprises. So take a look and choose the best for you.
Thank you so much for listening and considering supporting this project.
José

What people are saying...

Given Mexico’s strong and vibrant puppetry tradition, the idea of developing a puppet for the installation commemorating the album release felt like a natural fit, adding up to the project’s multicultural influence and the album’s narrative.
Currently on display in the ventana space at Hafnar.haus in downtown Reykjavík until the end of May.
