Further Information

At the beginning of August 2022, I bought a property in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, Italy. The house is in the medieval town of Sinalunga, which stands on a hill with a wide view of the Valdichiana valley. I have lived in Italy for many years, but it was a turning point in my life and it was time to create new adventures. I found a house with two apartments and a studio, a small garden, a balcony and a beautiful view. The house dates from around 1600 and was designed by Leonardo Del Vegni, who designed the theater in Sinalunga. I decided to buy, renovate the house and rent out the other apartment (sometimes both) to tourists, artists and academics. I have thought of being able to rent the apartment for a long time during the winter for people who want to do their work in Italy for a while. The apartments have one bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. My dream is to give the house a new life, a new story, and with your kind help through the Karolina Fund, I know it can come true.

In Sinalunga there is calm and peace, the town is well located in a wonderfully beautiful countryside and in the vicinity of the town there are many walking and cycling routes that no one will be disappointed by. Sinalunga is not a typical tourist town, but there you experience the local people in a small Italian town where honest citizens sit in the square for long hours and time seems to stand still. In the main square of Sinalunga there is a coffee bar, two small restaurants and a pizzeria, a bakery, a pharmacy, a bank and you can buy authentic Italian ice cream. There is a theater in town and the square has four churches and the medieval Palazzo Pretorio, which was first a government council house and later a prison and courthouse. A few minutes' walk from the apartment is a swimming pool that is open in the summer. Around Sinalunga there are geothermal areas where you can go to geothermal baths and relax and enjoy beautiful nature along the way.

In the surroundings of Sinalunga you can find wine tasting, see wine production, eat delicious food, enjoy nature and last but not least the art that Italy has to offer. From Sinalunga it is easy to visit small towns such as Cortona, Montepulciano, Monteriggione, Pienza and Lucigniano, but also a short distance to Siena, Arezzo, Perugia and Florence. There is a train station in Sinalunga which is good to be able to use, but it is easy to rent a car or use bus trips between places. It is also a short drive to Lago Trasimeno (a lake on the border between Tuscany and Umbria) where you can cycle around the lake and go to the "beach".

Construction is in full swing at Casa Maria, as I call my new home, and I'm looking for your support in making the house a beautiful and cozy place to hang out. I aim to complete the construction of the building in May 2023, and the first rental will take place immediately afterwards.

Casa Maria and the magic of Italy await and will welcome you and yours.
