We are a mother and son who are raising funds for the production of Icelandic YouTube children's content. The videos we want to make will be dubbed in Icelandic & will be designed for children aged 2-6 that are learning Icelandic or want to be better at Icelandic.
The videos will be adventurous so Grettir's imagination can be enjoyed, but the videos will also deal with various social issues such as environmental issues, friendship, emotions & different cultures.
We will make a series with 8-10 videos. Below you can see the first video about Lilla Tígur that hit the internet & found its way into the news.
Þórhildur Stefánsdóttir is a 31-year-old mother of two, she loves to create new things and production of content. Þórhildur's hobbies are video editing, photography, crossfit, theme parties, good food, flea markets and social gatherings. Grettir, her son, was truly gifted with creativity and has been writing stories, putting on plays and dressing up as various characters from a young age. Grettir is never allowed to watch YouTube at home and it can be said that's why he came up with the idea of Lilla Tígur's adventures.
Grettir Thor Árnason was born on May 2, 2017, and is, therefore, five years old now. He grew up without a TV in the living room, with no ipad in the house & screen time was only relevant when sick & he then had to watch on the home computer. After the family got a TV at home, Youtube has been on a semi-banned list, as it is uncategorized & sometimes just bad content, which is rarely in Icelandic.
Grettir was quick to start talking & has always been a big bookworm, has made up stories that could be published & often gets into character & acts out entire scenes. In September 2022, Grettir had been sick at home for three days (& got bored with his stuff, the content on the RÚV player & Disney+). Then he came up with the idea of creating Icelandic children's content with his mother that would be uploaded to YouTube.
It was no secret that he knew that with this production, he would have a better chance of watching YouTube sometimes.
A few moments later we were set up for a video about a little tiger he named Lilli Tígur, who was crossing a lake with lots of animals in it. The result was a video that can be said to have been a hit with our friend's children, the video also received press coverage & many were immediately eagerly waiting for the next video.
We want to continue & do even better but we need YOUR HELP to continue with the project!
We want to improve the picture & sound quality, get more voices in dubbing into the videos and get experts in social issues to help us cover those things in a quality way. Then there is also the cost of setting things up so we need to have more things, toys & backgrounds for that.
All those who support the project will get their name on the credit list of the videos, plus there will be a real release party at the end! There will be a tiger theme & the episodes with Lilla Tígur will of course be shown :)
