Further Information

What Is "New Earth"?

"New Earth" is a 136-page, uniquely personal, photography- and experience-focused book about the volcanic eruption in Geldingadalir, a small valley on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. When the eruption started on March 19th 2021, Jeroen was there with his camera to experience and capture this volcanic event from a front row seat. It was the beginning of a genuine photographic journey which exceeded all his expectations. In this book, he shares his collection of images strengthened by sharing his experiences whilst photographing the eruption.

About New Earth

"New Earth" will be Jeroen's first printed publication. As the eruption in Geldingadalir progressed, he started realising he had not only accumulated many beautiful photographs but also numerous once-in-a-lifetime experiences. He decided he wanted to share his story. He started writing and designing this book in June and has worked tirelessly since on a finished ready-for-print copy. You read that right: the book is completely finalised and only needs the funds to be able to print 1000 copies.

The book combines his beautiful photography of the eruption with interesting stories on how those photographs came to be. He also shares how this volcanic event left a big impact on him personally and how his experience started evolving together with the eruption.

Why You Should Fund This Book

Funding the printing and publication of this book allows Jeroen to self-publish his first photography book, which has been a long-time dream of his as a nature photographer. The concept of the book is also unique in the way that he shares his personal experiences about the eruption and how he went about photographing it over several months.

What You Can Expect

Every reward includes a copy of "New Earth". If desired, the book will be autographed and your name will be mentioned on a special acknowledgments page inside the book itself.

"New Earth" will be a 136-page, full colour, hard-cover book in a 240x170mm format. The photographs are printed in 4 colours and finished with a matte lamination.

Most photographs also come with the settings they were taken at to give you an insight into how the shot was achieved.
