Further Information

Toymachine was formed in Akureyri in late 1996 but was named Gimp at first. About two years later, members of the band changed the name to Toymachine. At the same time, their tone gained weight and the band performed widely over the next few years, including at the legendary CBGB concert venue in Manhattan, New York in November 1999, and at airplane hangar no. 4 at Reykjavik Airport the same year during the very first Iceland Airwaves music festival.

Toymachine was most active until 2001, but the band never managed to release their own album. However, they did had two songs on the collection album MSK (1999) and the song Be Like Me can be found in the Icelandic movie "Óskabörn þjóðarinnar" (Plan B) since 2000, but that same year Toymachine was nominated for the The Icelandic Music Awards as the brightest hope.

Now mambers of Toymachine wants to release the album that never came out. It will be a 10-11 tracks album that holds most of the songs from the band's prime time, from 1999-2001 and the piece will be released in late November / early December 2020 on vinyl and on all the main streaming services. What a perfect Christmas present.
