Reynir Hauksson is my name and I am an icelandic guitarist. I moved to Granada, Spain few years ago after I got hit by the Flamenco lightning. After I discovered how magical the Flamenco is I had no choice but to move to Spain to study it. I got the best maestro one could hope for, Alberto Fernández, who has guided me through this magical (and complicated) maze of Flamenco.
I am surrounded by talented people who have been very willing to give me insight to this magical world. For example the guitarist Jerónimo Maya and the percussionist Rubem Dantas. Both are pillars of the Flamenco world and have played a big part in the development of modern Flamenco.
Also my very good friend the singer Jacób de Carmen with whom I share the stage frequently, he has taught me many things about accompanying a Flamenco singer.
In recent years I have been performing professionally as a Flamenco guitarist, as a solo guitarist, with a singer and also with dancers here in Andalucía. I have also been bringing this artform to my native country Iceland, where it is little known. I play as a soloist there and I have been going to music academies with Masterclasses, explaining the mystical world of Flamenco. I have also brought to Iceland Flamenco artists from Granada, dancers, singers and instrumentalists.
The next step is to record my Flamenco compositions. An album in full length in various styles of Flamenco like Bulerías, Rondeña, Tangos etc. I also incorporate some ancient icelandic melodies in the songs. The songs are arranged in few different ways, solo guitar, guitar with vocals and guitar with percussion. There will also be alot of palm claps and even dancing, because the dancing is a percussion instrument in Flamenco. The album will be recorded in Granada in the studio FJR where many of modern Flamenco artist have recorded their records. The release concerts will take place in Iceland and Granada (even in other places). The album is called El Reino de Granada or The Kingdom of Granada, as an homage to this wonderful place that has given me so much.
I invite you to participate in this curios journey in to the depths of Flamenco.
