Further Information

Print cost

The money I receive will be used to print copies of the novella. 300.000 krónur / 2200 Euros will suffice for 500 copies. Excess money will simply be used to print more copies.

About the story

Feigðarflótti will be a novella, circa 30.000 words or about 100 pages in print. It is about siblings Magnhildur and Bárður, who live in a setting much like the one in the Icelandic Sagas and Norse myth. They are fleeing for their lives from enemies of their family, and must contend with the forces of nature, human foes, monsters that live in the wild, and sorcery.
If this goes well I will most likely publish a sequel next year.

About me

I have been writing since the year 2004, and in 2011 I published my first book, Meistari Hinna Blindu (Lord of the Blind). I followed up with one book a year until 2015, when I moved over to English. I translated three of my books into English and published on Amazon as the Silent War trilogy. Next I wrote the Golden Throne space opera quartet, and also published on Amazon. I recently finished writing another trilogy, which I'm trying to get traditionally published abroad. In the meantime I want to publish another work in Icelandic.

How the story came about

This spring I got the idea to write a novella and donate it to the schools of Akureyri (my hometown) to encourage kids to read. I wanted it to be Icelandic in character, by using the Sagas and our legends as inspiration. I applied for a grant from Akureyri to finance the job, but the grant wound up being diverted elsewhere. The idea of the story stuck around in my mind, though, and I decided to try a different method.
