CGFCA is an experimental feature documentary made in collaboration between CGFC (IS) and video artist Anders Morre (DK). The ambition of the film is to explore and document the creative, social and professional meeting between the members of the CGFC, Birnir, Arnar, Ýr and Hallveig, and Anders and through this process create a time-and-site-specific portrait of a generation of young creatives, their lives and the art they create.
The method of the film is based in documentary mixed with elements from art-, performance- and fiction film. Anders travels to Iceland for the months of August and September to write, shoot and document the process of making a series of performances, fiction film scenes, video art works, interviews and a music video with the Icelandic performance group CGFC. The collaborators live and work closely together documenting their everyday life; creating performance works, taking trips to the countryside, partying and meeting different young creatives to talk to them about art, life, and everything else.
In the beginning of September Anders leaves CGFC and Reykjavik to isolate himself in two artist residencies in two different parts of Iceland: "The westfjords residency" in The Westfjords and "Slatúrhúsid" in Egilsstadir. Here he will shoot the last material for the film and work on the edit the first draft of the final piece.
The whole creative process of the film - writing, shooting and editing - is to be initiated and mostly finished while Anders is in Iceland with the ambition of having the process of the film reflect the concept behind it being a concrete time-and-site-specific documentation of the social and creative lives of the members of CGFC and Anders.
The deadline for the final film is end of december 2016.

CGFC about Anders:
"Anders is a wild card"
"He is not the greatest performer - but it is fun to see him act"
"Spontaneous driving force that kind of does what he feels"
"Enthusiastic filmmaker who gives this project a lot a mature, professional respect"
"... Nice and blond"
CGFC
CGFC is a group of friends whose main ambition is to have fun. It then also happens to make art. The group has performed in Norway, the north, east and west of Iceland, mostly to be able to travel.
The aesthetics of the group centers around colorful textiles and yarndogs, latex gloves, glitter and has been described as childish disco glitter litter nightmare.
The group is really self centered in its art and some even claim that their disrespect of "serious" art must be stopped.
Oh and their technical director is a monkey.

Some nice quotes from our show attendants:
"I've never seen a play before where I wanted to crowdsurf." - Áki, 24.
"What was that?! I loved it, but what was that?" - tourist, mid twenties
"Wow, you guys really only think about yourselves don't you?" - girl at an installation, maybe 26
"I thought it was brilliant, a fantastic performance" - Henrik Vibskov, 44.
Producing this film we, Anders and CGFC, have found ourselves completely emerged both personally and professionally. We've gotten to know each others dreams and doubts, flaws and strengths. We've connected on a deep personal level that will be portrayed on screen. The audience will know us inside out and how it is to be a confused young person in this modern world.
We've lived the film. The film is us.
At the moment we can only guess what the final film will look like, but from the material below and the videos and stills that are going to be released on the blog www.cgfca.tumblr.com throughout this campaign, you will, along with us, be introduced to the direction of with the film is moving.
Despite all the uncertainties of the film some things are clear: It will be a feature length film. It will be a very personal and intimate experience watching it. It will have a rich afterlife with screenings and hopefully a lot a festival attendances. It will draw you in. It will surprise you. It will move you.
This film is a rare production. Many films deal with the same themes as it; youth, art, friendship, trying to find your place in the world - but very few productions let the story grow out of an idea of living the film while creating it. This concept is unique, an experiment, and in the end it will make the film an honest and intimate experience to watch.
It is important we support projects like this that aim to push the boundaries for how we use artistic mediums to tell stories as honest as possible exploring what it means to be alive on this planet.
Thank you for helping us realize this project!
CGFC reacting to the crowdfunding campaign:
Lots of love
