Further Information

Ófelía by Bambaló/Kristjana Stefáns

The album Ófelía has been on my wish list to make for years but the time was never right until now. All the music is originally written by myself along with half of the lyrics. The other half belongs to my friend, the play writer and director Bergur Þór Ingólfsson. The two of us have worked together the last years on making theatre plays and performances and I was totally enchanted by one of the character called Ófelía (Ophelia) from one of our plays. She is a remarkable person that has to deal with difficult stuff; neglect, death of her parents and all kinds of disconnection. So this is a concept album full of melancholia, epic lyrics and music.

No other came to mind to work on the album with me but my friend and virtuoso Daði Birgisson. Together we produced the music and made artistic decisions. Daði did the recording and mixing but Mandy Parnell did the mastering. Beside us two there are a bunch of brilliant artist helping us out to make this sound as beautiful as possible. This album is very personal but also start of something brand new for me. This is a Adult,Contemporary pop album, an true Icelandic Alternative Melancholia.

My gratitude and love to all
Kristjana Stefáns/ Bambaló
