Grand Look is a high end cosmetics line. The versatile product line includes everyday cosmetics and skin care products made from botanical ingredients. A large part of the Grand Look concept is also giving back; I can never have children of my own but through my brand I hope to help children in Iceland and young families by donating 5% of every sold product to the Icelandic children's hospital and later, hopefully I can help more causes. Why Grand Look?

When I was 24, after undergoing a long hormonal treatment, I had a surgery that finalized my transformation to the state that had always felt natural and normal to me. Heart, mind and body were now united and I was finally a woman.

Being a transsexual is far from easy, society can be harsh and judgmental and the inner turmoil that comes with not being born in the right body and growing up feeling that you are not normal, broken or just somehow not like everybody else can be unbearable.

As tough as it sometimes was (as life has a tendency to be) this journey tough me many things, it made me a stronger individual and showed me that I have a lot of good people and organizations that support me and don‘t judge me on superficial things but value me for my actions and the person that I am. 

Growing up in Iceland is a privileged and the support and help that I got from the government and the society in whole paved the way for me, both financially and mentally, throughout the whole sex-change progress.

What is Grand Look?

I have a real passion when it comes to cosmetics and skin care. For some this may sound trivial as it comes to passions in life but if you put it in perspective and realize that I went from being a boy that had to learn the tips and tricks when it came to make up and actually pull off looking like a woman on an everyday basis.

To undergoing massive hormonal treatment that caused numerous changes to my skin and body, but I adapted and learned. Today I have a substantial amount of education and experience in both skin care and make-up. And can truly identify with the fact that cosmetics can play a huge role in our life.  

With this product line I want to sell high end cosmetics as well as provide videos and seminars on how to apply make-up and care for your skin. 

The products are all made from botanical ingredients, which means that they are made from natural ingredients that derive from plants that are beneficial to the skin and are non-allergic.

The cherry on the top is that 5% of every product sold will go to charity.  Grand Look is well on its way but we need a little help getting. Will you help us and become a part of the future.

Af hverju Grand Look?

Ástæðan fyrir því að ég ákvað að feta þessa braut og byrja með mína eigin snyrtivörulínu er margþætt. Eins og flestir vita er ég transkona og hef þ.a.l. þurft að mæta margvíslegu mótlæti í lífinu.  

Á sama tíma og ég var að berjast við að öðlast viðurkenningu samfélagsins þurfti ég líka að læra  uppá eigin spítur hvernig á að líta út eins og kona, hugsa um húðina útfrá hormónabúskap kvenna, læra að mála mig og í raun að skilgreina hver ég vildi vera út á við sem manneskja og sem kona.  

Þetta fékk mig til þess að sækja mér menntun á sviði förðunar og hárgreiðslu og kveikti gífurlegan áhuga á öllu því sem tengist umhirðu húðar, förðun og hárgreiðslu.

Ég hef komið langan veg frá því að ég áttaði mig á því að ég væri fædd í röngum líkama, ég hef fært margar fórnir í gegnum þetta ferli. Hef þurft að endurskilgreina mig og mitt gildismat í lífinu og stigið upp sem sterkari kona fyrir vikið sem býr jafnframt yfir miklu innsæi þegar kemur að málefnum sem snerta útlit kvenna.  

Ástæðan fyrir því að ég vil láta fasta prósentu af öllum ágóða renna til Barnaspítala Hringsins og góðgerðamála sem vinna fyrir börn og fjölskyldur er meðal annars sú að í gegnum þetta ferli fórnaði ég eiginleikanum til þess að geta getið mín eigin börn og sem transkona er mjög tvísýnt með ættleiðingar eins og lagaumhverfið á Íslandi er í dag. Með þessum styrk til góðgerðamála get ég þó sýnt einhverjum börnum kærleik og veitt þeim aðstoð.   

Að þessu sögðu er það mín einlæga ósk að þið veitið mér brautargengi til þess að láta þessa snyrtivörulínu og draum minn verða að veruleika.  

Hvað er Grand Look?

Grand look er hágæða snyrtivörulína. Vöruframboðið er mjög fjölbreytt og samanstendur af fjölda húð og snyrtivara sem allar eru unnar úr náttúrulegum efnum.

Meðal þeirra innihaldsefna sem notuð eru í vörurnar má nefna avocado olíu, Aloe vera, möndluolíu, grænt te og jojoba olíu. Innihaldsefnin eru þó mun fleiri og misjöfn eftir vörutegundum. Þau eiga það þó öll sameiginlegt að búa yfir jákvæðum eiginleikum sem staðfestir hafa verið með ótal rannsóknum enda hafa þessi þekktu náttúrulegu innihaldsefni verið rannsökuð í þaula. 

Að auki eru allar vörurnar ofnæmisprófaðar, lyktarlausar, lausar við skaðleg efni og þekkta ofnæmisvaka. Samsetning vörunnar miðar einnig að því að koma í veg fyrir að svitaholur stíflist sem gerir það að verkum að myndum fílapensla og önnur húðvandamál eru ólíkleg. 

Á Íslandi er stór markaður fyrir snyrti og húðvörur. Umhleypingasamt veðurfar gerir það að verkum að húð íslendinga þarf oftar en ekki meiri umhirðu sökum ytri aðstæðna.
