What is Melodica?

Melodica is an international network of small independent festivals aimed at building community between artists.

The festival has been bringing songwriters together since 2007, when it started in Australia, and has since spread all around the world with festivals currently taking place in Germany, France, the United States, Denmark, England, Norway, Austria and of course Iceland!

What makes Melodica so special?

Melodica is different from other music festivals in that we focus on creating a comfortable and intimate environment where songwriters from all around the world, and from local music scenes, can get together, be inspired, build important contacts and networks and, most importantly, genuine friendships. It makes for an unforgettable weekend full of diverse music, heartfelt performances, an up close and personal audience experience and lots of goosebumps.

You probably won’t find super famous artists at a Melodica, but you will find super talented and passionate songwriters from all corners of the music scene, and also from just around the corner.

Why do we need your help?

We have another amazing festival coming up in the last weekend of August and we want to fully cover costs!

Because we want to keep the festival open to everyone, instead of selling tickets we’ve tried relying on audience donations to cover our costs, which is how the festival usually runs around the world, but sometimes this also carries a lot of risk. And while we are able to cover a portion of costs from donations, often we usually don’t make enough to fully cover the travel expenses for our international artists.

This year, for the first time, we want to be able to fully pay for the travel costs of our overseas guests.

To achieve this, we’ve set a goal of raising €2,000, which might sound like a lot but is actually quite teeny tiny compared to the budgets of other festivals.

We believe Melodica makes a really important contribution to building our songwriter communities,and would love your support!
