Why this project?

We believe there is a gap in the market for a quality bike rental at the Golden Circle for both foreign and Icelandic travellers. We estimate that 20 to 25 bikes will do to start with. We are passionate about renting them at reasonable prices. Especially for families as we know first hand how expensive family days out can be.

We aim to start before the summer is over and to be in full swing with this dream of ours.

The Golden Circle is in much need of a bike rental to give tourists and locals the opportunity to experience close up what this area has to offer. It will give them a chance to step off the bus, rent a bike and breathe our fresh, clean, crisp air surrounded by stunning views and unspoiled nature. Furthermore it will give the explorers a sense of freedom away from strict schedules.

About us

Johanna Berglind, mother, wife and paramedic. Due to the remote location and distance from the nearest hospital I now work as an assistant store manager in a small local shop

As a little girl I spent most of my childhood summers in a farm nearby, it has always been my dream to live here one day. After years of moving around we have lived in both south-east and west of Iceland we even lived in England for a couple of years. Now we live in this beautiful countryside ( a cluster of houses) called Blue forest (Bláskógabyggð) a short distance from where I spent all those magical summers finally we truly feel as we are home.

Halldór Jónsson, father, husband former farmer, fisherman and HGV driver. I now work as the only taxi driver in the local areas which has given me a unique insight into what tourists and locals want as well as an excellent knowledge of the area.


The next step in our dream is be self employed where we can be creative and provide an excellent service we are proud off. I wouldn't hurt if we could make a reasonable living as well. Like every parent we want to be able to support our children best we can and If we were better of financially we could support our children in finishing their education without the worry of never ending student loans.

Service.

We both have years of experience working in customer orientated industries and we know exactly how important customer satisfaction is, that's why we will provide a delivery and pick up service with a covered bicycle trailer and only offer clean and well maintained bikes. Our trailer will be fully equipped so we can provide a road side repair service for those unforeseen circumstances.

Bikes and accessories.

We will offer high quality bikes, helmets for both children and adults, at reasonable prices.

We will begin by purchasing the bikes and accessories and building the trailer to fit 18-20 bikes. The trailer will also be used as a workshop so we can provide a road side repair service.
We will promote our new business both in Iceland and abroad with the support and guidance from the South of Iceland marketing and the tourist office.
At the same time create a website. we are going to be active on social media including Facebook and twitter with regular updates about the business, promotions/offers, local area including pictures.

The future

In the future we would like to diversify and offer a wider range of bicycles as well as 2 and 4 persons bikes, buggies with sails and any fun things we can think of.
