Further Information

I've been based in London since 2011, where I've both studied and worked in music. It was then when I started writing my own songs, inspired by the vocals if Ella Fitzgerald, the stories of Joni Mitchell and my own folky roots. I've been blessed with knowing some amazing musicians that have helped me perform and shape my songs, and now, five years later they are finally ready to be shared with you! This is my debut solo album, but in 2011 and 2012 I released two albums with my former band, Brother Grass.

Those are two different worlds, Svarfaðardalur valley and London, and it can be tricky to feel like your heart is in two places, but that is exactly one of the topics on my album, homesickness and to feel like a tree without a root.
Other topics are love (of course) in it's many forms and stories of human struggles, about the beauty of life, as well as the ugliness.
The album is being recorded by Cherif Hashizume at Cafe Studios in London. Like I said before, I'm so lucky to know so many talented musicians and this time I'm joined by Örn Eldjárn (guitar and arrangements), Helga Ragnarsdóttir (keyboard and vocals), Sam Pegg (bass), Anil Sebastian (vocals), Marit Røkenberg (vocals), Valeria Pozzo (violin) and Stefan Knapik (cello)

"I should bear the name of birds, for I'm a tree without a root" it says in one of my songs. Ösp means poplar and I've always had a strong fascination for those tall trees. We thought it would be a good idea to do something different with the digital download, so we'll be releasing it on wood, poplar wood of course! And what more fitting than a poplar from my childhood home in the valley. I've asked my parents to find branches that didn't survive the winter, and now they've been given a new purpose.

We've already finished recording half of the songs and with your help we'll be able to finish this 10 song album very soon! We estimate the album release will be in November/December this year. You can learn more about me and my music and this project at www.facebook.com/OspEldjarn
