We are a team of two and have both a strong interest in physical activity and healthy lifestyle. We both are sports enthusiasts, Anna Björg has practiced football virtually all her life and Gerður‘s background is in gymnastics and judo. The road was therefore to educate ourselves in Sports Science. We both have B.s degree and M.Ed. in those fields.

In the program our interest in the movement of senior citizens grew and we found that little material is accessible for this group in society. Therefore, we think the project is quite necessary to support them and encourage their movement. We all age and inevitable aspect of aging is that all our body functions slowly reduced.

Studies have shown that by exercising at every age there can be a substantially reduced healthcare cost for each and everybody. Exercise helps to decrease blood pressure, increase strength, agility and balance, which will help the elderly to live independent lives much longer.

The cards will be of suitable size and structured to promote endurance, increase strength, improve flexibility and promote a better balance. Each card specifies in detail for which part of the body the exercise applies, such as neck, shoulders, abdomen and thigh. Individuals can thus easily choose the exercise for that part of the body they feel the need to train any time and to enhance the coordination of one‘s exercises. The cards can also be utilized to enhance the imagination and encourage exercise.

The panels would be classified into two color categories, on one hand for strength exercise and flexibility and the other hand balance.Individuals can by this way have the opportunity to choose a card, or cards, every day or when it suits them, to do the exercises in a simple and low-cost manner.

A person needs only to have one box of training cards and can then begun to account move on his speed, his time and his enthusiasm. The participant draws a card or selects the card that suits him or her and does the exercise several times during the day or even picks other cards throughout the day. The cards require no equipment and are easy to travel with. Everyone can use the exercise cards, young and old.

We have put a lot of work into creating these card and we really want this project to become a reality. We believe that it‘s necessary for every home to have one box of the movement cards. Please support this project so we can finalize it and contribute to the health of senior citizens.
