The Banana Garden

A Science Fiction Novel

By Eggert Gunnarsson

The Banana Garden is set in not too distant future. The effects of climate change and the mismanagement of the Earth’s resources have come to the four and over a few weeks period the whole globe is hit by cataclysmic weather events that send the world’s population into a realm of virtual shut down. The governing systems are affected greatly and the actions of individuals cause unforeseen consequences.

The events are observed through the eyes of Adrian Charles, the former spin doctor of the UK Government. He goes into hiding with the GM of the BBC who has set up a pirate station that takes over the BBC that in turn has been gagged by the Government. They manage to transmit and tell their audience what is actually going on. They are contacted by the science crew of Rama the international space station that has a bird’s eye view of the Earth and reports sightings of visitors that seem to be trying to interfere in the events on Earth.

After the initial bout of storms pewters out the visitors make contact and the restoration work begins. This is an unknown territory and the intentions of the visitors are not known.

I hope the information attached is sufficient for you to evaluate my potential as a writer.

The Banana Garden deals with issues that are facing us all at the moment. There is the cataclysmic element hanging over the world as is at the current time. The story navigates the possible outcome of the inaction of our current leaders weaving into it the sci-fi element of the "visitors" who have been observing the Earths demise for a while and have been observed by the Earth’s population at different times. The Banana Garden is aimed for adult readers who are concerned about the state of affairs in the world today as well as our future prospects.
