Tezaab

TEZAAB is a documentary on violence against women, seen from the extreme side of it; from the point of view of survivors of acid attacks. Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. It can include physical, sexual, psychological and economic abuse, and it cuts across boundaries of age, race, culture, wealth and geography.

The Documentary TEZAAB sheds light on one of the world most horrifying violence existing, i.e. acid throwing, and how these women find their way and will to carry on living, in circumstances where there is no social support to rely on. These women bear their deep, horrific scars on the outside – a constant reminder of the horror they survived. Acid attacks, or “acid throwing”, have been declared a gender-specific crime, given the fact that at least 80% of the victims are women. Whilst the audience gets to know these heroes, leaders and experts share their inspection on how humankind can eradaticate violence against women.
