Sigríður Lára Sigurjónsdóttir

Publisher at Bókstafur in Egilsstaðir

  • translator

I am a publisher, translator, playwright and a PhD candidate, among other things, living in Egilsstaðir, East Iceland. Born and bread here, I moved to Reykjavík in 1993, to study literature at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík. Gratuated with a B.A. in comparative Literature in 1997 and later acquired two masters degrees, in Comparative Literature (2004) and Publishing (2009). Have been working on a PhD in theatre studies since, among other things.

I moved back to Egilsstaðir with my family in 2012, wanting to raise my children in the peaceful environment of East Iceland. Here I've been trying to make it possible for myself to use my education and, preferably, sustain myself, financially.

In 2015 me and some friends founded the start-up publication Bókstafur ehf in East Iceland. We had the company in full operation for three years, publishing 20 titles. We have reduced operations somewhat, but are still publishing the odd book. Like one can see on the projects on here.
