Emilie Dalum (b.1989, DK)

Living in Reykjavik, Iceland

Profile

Currently, I am a student at Design- and Innovation at The Technical College in Reykjavík, Iceland. Additionally, I am a Part Time Artist and Volunteer in Listastofan.

My primary focal point is art- and documentary photography. Poetry, drawing and art curating including communication, planning and PR-work are my work disciplines additionally. I have participated in several exhibitions, both in group- and solo shows.

Complemented with a B.A. in European Ethnology, I am constantly aiming to understand and meet people in my surroundings. The unknown and vulnerable attracts me, and my work demonstrates a highly intuitive approach.

Artist statement

I am constantly exploring myself through a symbiosis of magic, flaws, fears and love. Together these components shape my understanding of life as a whole, which I feel is only possible through the power of human relationships. Accordingly, the interaction with people is the essential element of my photography.

In a world controlled by rationality and ideologies, I feel driven to set a contrast by showing life inside and out and questioning all conventions about beauty and ugliness – in life itself and in the aesthetics of art.
