I have reached the age of 50 and it is due to make the big dreams come true, to make a cd and to get a raven tattoo, to learn and practice how to play more guitar solos etc. I have started my accomplishment to make a cd. The main reason that it is almost solely acapella is the reason that I don´t have enough money to pay musicians and instruments call for more times in a studio and that sure does cost. I want everybody to get paid for their work. I started thinking and the outcome was this cd with music that I have put people to sleep with since I was a teenager. Not necessarily children´s song but songs with a heart and a meaning, touching songs and lyrics.

Stúdíó Gott Hljóð is the studio I use and Sissi understands and believes in what I am doing. It took me two attempts of recording to make the cd. First it took me 2 hours to record 18 songs and the second time it took about 2-3 hours and I rerecorded and added some more songs plus 3 songs I had recorded earlier. After the first recording there was a coversong competition of songs from Magnús Eirkíksson, a 70 year old songwriter in Iceland. I learned about that competition the day after the first recording and I was lucky that I had recorded one of his songs so I could take part. Of over 100 recordings, my song was third runner up. It is the song Komu engin skip í dag? (Did no ships come to harbor today?). After I did some thinking I found out that I have been singing this song for 45 years. It is about a widow that sits on the shore hoping for her loved one to turn back from the sea and she believes that every ship is his. To be in 3rd place tells me that I´m doing something right and gave me the strenght to carry on. Doing something out of the ordinary makes you doubt yourself and your work over and over again but I pay that prize with pride.
