About the research:
The essence of the project: a study of the history and tradition of Icelandic names, patronymics, and surnames as a socio-historical phenomenon. Name giving in Iceland deserves special attention as a complex phenomenon, in which its depth motives affect the development of Icelandic society, its culture, and its place in the global world. How the name affects the formation of an Icelander as a personality, society as a whole, and what potential it can reveal in the future.
The research will be written in English.
About the author:
My name is Olga Khodos, I am a journalist, and now I am studying Psychology and Psychoanalysis. I lived in Iceland for many years, it became a huge and important part of my life and I consider my duty to make a contribution to the popularization of Icelandic culture and history.
For what funds needed:
- It's the project that takes time. Time is probably the most expensive thing we all have;
- Translation and work with archives;
- Linguistic and literary editing.
What is already in progress:
- Gathering of expert opinion and interviews;
- Plot, problematics, and argumentation.
The research is presumed to become the basis of the book about the phenomenon of names in Iceland and its psychological nature.
