Further Information

Runir is a quick phased dice game for 2 – 4 players, ages 8 and up. Playing time is 10 minutes per player. In Runir, each player has his set of energy (represented with crystals) that will be used to carve runes or to use in assistance chambers to aid the rune carvers.

For each rune you need to carve, you need to have the correct tool combination; your die roll. The die roll represents the tools you are given at the start of the current work session.

You need to find a rune text to carve, that matches the tools you have. If you do not have the correct tools, you have a chance to get a different set of tools in the assistance chambers.

If the requirements are fulfilled, players can also visit the Jarl´s Grand Hall to gain a praise from the Jarl and raise their honour.

When any one player has used all of his energy, the game ends and honour is counted. The player with the most honour wins and becomes the Rune Master.

GAME BOARD – 6 PUZZLED BOARDS + 1 CENTRAL PIECE

All boards are double-sided and only 4 of them are needed for each game, each is different resulting in each game being different. They are chosen by throwing 4 dice. Take boards as shown on the dice, throw again as needed until you have 4 different boards. Alternatively take 4 boards at random. Connect them with the center peace and place it in the middle of the playing area.

DICE – 6 x 6D WHITE DICE + 4 x 6D BLACK DICE WITH FUTHARK RUNE SYMBOLS
The dice in the game each have 6 imprinted Icelandic runes on them.

CRYSTALS– 48 x ENERGY CRYSTALS + 4 x PLAYER TOKENS
The crystals are made of sturdy acrylic plastic and the player token is double sided, with the number "25" on the back used when scoring the final score.

COMPACT AND ROBUST BOX (215x135x50 mm) WITH MAGNETIC OPENINGS

The inner lid of the box is designed as the Jarl' s Grand Hall and the box itself can be used as a dice throwing tray.

In the Jarl's Grand Hall (the lid), the coins are stacked as well as the special Jarl´s Grand Hall tokens. They can be gained if some specific requirements are fulfilled, then players can visit the Jarl´s Grand Hall and get extra honour from the Jarl.

When players carve their rune stone, by finding and matching any rune stone with his dice throw, he can get his payment from the treasuries: bronze, silver or gold coins (60 coin tokens in total).

If players can fulfill some specific requirements, they can claim the extra honour, delivered on a platter from the Jarl himself:

· MAGIC RUNES (7 psc)
Thematically protects or aids the carvers.

· GOODS (7 pcs)
General goods to feed & enjoy.

· PRAISE FROM THE JARL (7 pcs)
The Jarl is pleased with your good work and offers you a toast!

The game also includes 1 x English rulebook, 1 x Icelandic rulebook and starting player token. In the rulebooks, there is a special chapter called "Runipedia" with a brief overview about Icelandic runes and magic staves and their history.

We are looking for your support! We have already invested a lot of time and energy into fulfilling our idea about a game that would be inspired by Icelandic heritage! And we have been loving any minute of it!

Last year, we created Mythical Island. A game inspired by Icelandic stories, folklore and myth. We immediately felt that we wanted to continue in the same path, so here we have Runir - the brother of Mythical Island.

The game is created by the same designers and artist, in the same box and with the same general feel.

We have already invested in the pre-production of the game, but now we are heading for the production phase. Manufacturing a board game is costly, specially when we aim to use high quality components. And that is where we would need your support for the final stages.

All the received funding will go into the production:

- High quality imprinted custom made dice.
- Custom made double sided game boards with customized "place holders" for the acrylic crystals.
- Custom made punch board tokens & icons

If we get a good response and we gain our funding goal, we might even add some stretch goals to the campaign to further improve the components!

We aim to deliver the game to you in November. Here is the plan:

Games have been a passion of the people involved with Gamia games for a long time. Gamia games is a network of connections and raw gaming energy where many different talents and individuals get together to create something special and unique.

We wanted to have a platform where we could freely explore and experiment with interesting ideas and methods. So therefore, Gamia games was started in 2015 to fulfill these visions.

Our aim is to create challenging, original and unique board games for various player groups. We are also looking into new ways to include digital and virtual methods in the game design, where it fits the game.

Games developed and produced by Gamia games are designed by Icelandic game designer Svavar Björgvinsson, sometimes in cooperation with other designers. Gamia games is a registered trade mark, owned by Svavar Björgvinsson.

There are not so many direct risk factors involved in our project. The design for Runir is 98% complete and ready to be sent to print. The graphic design shown here may change slightly in the final version of the game. We will need a small amount of time for preparing the game for print and manage some potential stretch goals. We will be ready to proceed with production soon after the campaign ends.

We aim to send the game out to backers in November 2020, the time they will receive the game depends on the carrier service in each given area. We also aim to offer the game as a pickup in Icelandic game stores.

The estimated delivery time has been set as a 'reasonable' scenario, in case something should happen. If we can deliver the games early to our backers (and we hope we can), it will be a bonus.

For the past months, we have been working with our manufacturer to ensure that you will receive a high quality game. Everyone who has tested our prototypes has helped us make the game good and playable. We are confident that you will be pleased with the final version of the game.

The biggest risks to this project are the things beyond our control: Production and shipping delays.
