Since January 2015 Kaktus has hosted over 140 art events of a wide variety. Artists from all over the country and foreign ones have exhibited, held concerts and made all kinds of art in the Kaktus spaces.

Kaktus is open to everybody and many have been involved in making it what it is. Young artists, many of whom are from Akureyri, have taken their first steps in their art right here in Kaktus. The members of the Kaktus art collective have put in an immense work and time to help artists promote themselves and their art. The importance of Kaktus for it’s contribution to culture and creative scene of Akureyri is priceless - but Kaktus isn’t and has never been in it for the money.

The city of Akureyri has always supported Kaktus but now there’s a new chapter in the story of Kaktus. That’s why we need your help so we can continue the good work, on which the foundation has been built. It is our hope that art and culture will flourish like never before with our new exhibition space and studio, and your support.
