The Daily T-Shirt X Year Anniversary is my first book. I have been working on it since February, when I began digging up the files and images I posted on Eyjan.is in late 2008 and early 2009. When I looked at the material in chronological order I saw that it told a unique story. This began as light-hearted social critique but changed dramatically at the onset of the banking crisis, when financial institutions, Icesave, bankers and fat cats took the stage. There was not much positive to report in the wake of the crisis and ultimately, this side project of mine ceased to be in February 2009. I have designed some T-shirts since then but most have not been seen publicly, apart from a few shared with friends on Facebook, until the publication of this compilation.

The book sheds an interesting light on this dramatic era of recent Icelandic history, the exuberance, excitement, uncertainty and even desperation, all from the perspective of the average Joe.

Your support can make my dream a reality
Now I need your support to complete this project. It cannot become a reality unless I get the necessary financing. The publishers I contacted either rejected the book as it did not fit into their publishing plans or simply did not reply.

Another perspective
My collaborator in this project is journalist and podcaster Kjartan Guðmundsson, whose accompanying text illuminates the time period, puts things in perspective and provides a more in-depth look at the subject matter.

Special hangers
I have made several computer-generated images showing my vision of the book and its design. All photographs are by me. In some instances, I hang the T-shirt on a hanger before photographing it. I selected the most interesting hangers in my closet and it later turned out that they originally belonged to my ninety-year old mother-in-law, Lóa, who had knitted covers for them when she was in elementary school, probably in 1935 or 1936.

Timeline
Instead of page numbers, the pages are dated chronologically. The index is therefore the timeline from 21 July 2008 to early February 2009. A few T-shirts are omitted and crossed out on the timeline. And there was of course a break for Christmas 2008.

In two languages
The book will have text in both Icelandic and English, making it an ideal gift for friends or business partners abroad.

The book will be printed in Iceland. It is 192 pages, four-colour printed on high quality 150g Munken Polar paper. The binding will be partially handmade, with an open spine and magenta-coloured seams. The covers are Eska black Xtra paperboard, imprinted with magenta-coloured film.
