From An Idea To An Album

In the spring of 2018 I decided to write jazz music with lyrics to release in a book. The writing process was successful and soon I realized that the songs would have to exist in a recording as well as writing. So I gathered up some friends and favorite singers and horn players and booked a recording studio. Karl Örvarsson made a great design for the me so now the idea has become a very beautiful book and a great sounding CD.

Jazz On Vinyl

The thing with jazz music is that it sounds best in your living room in the evening from a turning vinyl. The vinyl album will be a double one, four songs on each side of one record, three songs on each side on the other. I want to provide my backers with the chance of getting the LP at a low price point, almost at the amount it takes to make it. It’s the perfect Christmas gift for the music lover. Vinyl and a music book, just like old times!

The Artists

Those performing with me on the album are the singers Ragga Gröndal, Kristjana Stefáns, Bogomil Font, Sigga Eyrún, Helgi Hrafn Jónsson, KK, Unnur Sara Eldjárn, Elín Harpa, Rakel Sigurðardóttir, María Magnúsdóttir and Gulla Ólafsdóttir. The saxaphone players Joel Palsson and Haukur Gröndal, the trumpet player Snorri Sigurðarson and Samúel Jón Samúelsson on trombone all play some solos. The rhythm section is made up by Magnús Trygvason Eliassen, Toggi Jóns and Ásgeir Ásgeirsson. I play the piano myself and get to sing one of the songs.

If you fund this project you can choose the album in various forms, as a download, CD or LP. You can also choose the book that contains the songs in two keys each, for a high and a low voice. You can also mixed it up and get a CD or an LP with the book. If you are feeling extra generous you could get a personal concert from me in your living room performing all the songs. That would have to be in the greater Reykjavik area.
