What if there were other dimensions, other worlds? What if you would find a door into another world? Would you dare go through?

Hrafntinna is a 17 year old Icelandic girl staying at her grandma's farm in Iceland when she gets a birthday present that shatters her worldview and plunges her into another dimension, one ruled by elves.

She finds out that her staying there is dangerous but it isn't going to be easy getting back home.

With help from some of the elves she befriends in Álfheim she travels the country in search of magical items that are supposed to get her home to her world.

Danger comes at them from all directions and she meets different kinds of elves on her journey; but will things be back to normal when she arrives home or did her traveling between worlds have unforeseen consequences?

My name is Karólína and I am the author of this book. I have always had a
fascination with folklore, mythology and fairytales. The books I read are most often about paranormal events or time travel or at least set in another world or a long past time. Or all of the above.

I've always had a lot of imagination and a need to create, but I never dreamed of writing a book. Being dyslexic, I was sure that that meant that I couldn't write. I have a background in acting, film making and visual art as well as a bachelor's degree in archaeology, which I studied because of my love of history and anthropology. While pursuing that degree I learned not to be afraid of writing.

But then the stars aligned in the sky and I wrote this book. Okay...that didn't happen. But because of a couple of coincidences I started to makeup this story and a world to go with it and then actually wrote it down. I found out that it was not only possible, but that I enjoyed it, too. Then the story became so big it was no longer only a book but a series, since book number two is writing itself in my head as we speak.

The Icelandic hidden people have often preoccupied my thoughts. I have read folklore featuring elves and/or hidden people and other people's interpretations of them. I am influenced by folklore, but have made up different kinds of elven races and species and their cultures. Other mythological beings in the story will be familiar to some, but some creatures are new and spun from my imagination.

Icelandic nature plays a big part in the story and the Icelandic weather especially. The goal of the book is to bring the hidden people back into the light and create a world in which people can forget themselves. A world where anything is possible. In writing I found an outlet for my creativity and I can't wait for you to come and experience an adventure on Lava Island.
