Tholly´s Sacred Blues Band is now working on a new CD featuring 12 new songs. We will be featuring Mezzoforte´s guitar player Fridrik Karlsson on lead guitar who will also be producing this project. Most of the songs are written by the band´s members - five songs written by Tholly, the band´s singer, one song by Fridrik Karlsson, the lead guitar player and two songs by Sigurdur Ingimarsson, the band´s rhythm guitar player and singer. Also included will be four blues songs that have been popular by the band but we´ve not recorded yet.

Tholly´s Sacred Blues Band was founded in late fall 2003 and from the beginning we participated in the blues scene here in Iceland. We have held a lot of concerts and played at almost all the blues festivals in Iceland, The Reykjavik Blues Festival, Blue North blues festival at Ólafsfjörður and "Blús milli fjalls og fjöru" in Patreksfjörður, just to name a few.

A new line-up was featured in 2014 when Mezzoforte´s guitar player Fridrik Karlsson started playing with the band. Mostly known for playing with the world touring fusion band Mezzoforte, Fridrik has had an amazing career as a guitar player. Living in London for ten years, he worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber and was the lead guitarist in all of Webber´s musicals. He was the lead guitar player in the X - Factor series in Britain as well as Britain´s Got Talent. Also he has played and appeared with numerous world famous artists such as Madonna and Kate Bush.

Other members of the Blues Band are:

Fúsi Óttars drums - at an early age he became known for his drum playing with the band "Baraflokkurinn" from Akureyri. Since then he has played with all the foremost musicians in Iceland like Rikshaw, Mannakorn, Stjórnin, Strax, Hljómar, Jagúar and Dalí, just to name a few.

Jonni Richter bass - is a well known bass player in the heavy metal scene in Iceland. Among the bands he has played with are Árblik, Exizt and Stálfélagið.

Sigurður Ingimarsson rhythm guitar and vocals - began playing in rock bands in Akureyri at an early age. He is one of Iceland´s best rock singers and has many times participated in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

And the Blues Band´s lead singer, founder and leader is Tholly Rosmunds who has been singing jazz, blues and gospel for many years, sometimes referred to as the Icelandic Mahalia Jackson. It has been her dream and vision for many years to have a highly professional gospel blues band. And gospel blues is exactly what Tholly´s Sacred Blues Band specializes in. Many pioneers of the blues sang gospel blues - Blind Willie Johnson and Gary Davis - just to name a few. And that is the tradition that we want to keep going.
