Lóa jewellery is made of medical titanium, which is a strong but light precious metal. The Lóa necklace is hanging in a silver chain and the length of the chain can be adjusted from 70 cm.
Originally the Plover was processed in clay as a part of a souvenir project at Reykjavik school of visual arts. At that time, shortly after the bank crises, I found Icelandic society very restless and chaotic. In Icelandic the word,,órói“ has a dual meaning. It both means chaos and a hanging mobile, which sometimes serves as an instrument of relaxation. I found it fitting to use the Plover in this souvenir project since the Plover has been used as a symbol of hope in Icelandic culture. When the Plover comes in spring Icelanders know that winter shall soon retreat and summer is around the corner. There‘s an old Icelandic poem about the Plover that says that when the Plover comes in the spring it takes away the hard times and the snow and brings us sunshine and blooming fields. But since that is not always the case I found it necessary to dress the Plover with a woolen cap, you never know what you can expect in Iceland, sunny days can bring snow here!
After i finished my studies in the Reykjavik school of Visual Arts I continued to develop the idea of the Plover, it was later made of porcelain with a woolen cap. I have sold Lóa in design shops in Iceland and some of them have traveled to Japan where they are sold in several design shops.

When I studied model making in Arts University Bournemouth last year, i took the Plover into photo scan and illustration programs. It is now cutout of medical titanium, which is a strong but light precious metal. The Plover is now a jewelry, a necklace that hangs in an oxidized silver chain and a pair of earrings.

Inga Höskuldsdóttir has gathered various expertise in different mediums through the years. She has a degree in furniture making, and as a make-up artist, ceramic artist and recently finished a diploma in model making at Arts University Bournemouth in England. She has mostly worked as a ceramic artist and a make-up artist. Her passion in life is too create and she now looks for your support to commence production on the plover jewelry.
