Further Information

"ANTHOLOGY: SIMPLY THE BEST" is the new upcoming album from "art-house rockabilly electro" group TZMP.

Our story is a bit long, but it's a good one. TZMP (The Zuckakis Mondeyano Project) was founded in an English Conversation class in MH (Hamrahlid College?) in Reykjavik, Iceland.

We had to do a 5 minute radio show and hand it in on a tape so we decided to do a music show. We decided to make our own music for the show and that delivered the first few snippets of music that was the foundation of our band.

One of the songs (a diss song about our friends and their parents) we extended and gave to our friends. On a whim, we decided to enter our schools talent show and to our surprise we won.

Immediately after that we were booked to play in a couple of weeks, but we hit a snag. We only had one song. So we made more. And did that show and others. Before we knew it we had a string of songs and the following year, through a string of weird coincidences we found ourselves in Honiton, a small town in Devon, England, recording our first album.

More madness ensued, we got the drummer from Hawkwind to play drums on our song "Alien Millennium", and through a bit of sneakiness and the sheer kindness of a heart, Mark Pritchard offered us help on "Scatalicious" by providing us with UK Garage-y sound effects.

After going back home with a Red Book standard mastered copy of our album, we continued to do shows and coming up with more material. We performed a total of 4 times at Iceland Airwaves, played a TV show which Sölvi of Quarashi saw and that same night booked us to play their final gig in Iceland (happening the next day) before heading on to a world tour.

Other highlights include playing a show at the annual celebration of Stýrimannaskólinn í Reykjavík (a fisheries college) and having to escape after threats of violence. We performed at art festivals and anywhere where we were welcome.

In 2004, we released our first album "The Album", right before one-half of the group (me, Earl) ventured to Japan for a year. After returning back, more shows and more new songs followed.

In 2008, I once again headed from the land of the midnight sun to the land of the rising sun. I've been there ever since but on trips back home, there were inevitable concerts with a new tracks being played for the first time.

Now 8 years later, I'm going back home to Iceland, but not before releasing a new album before we head on a TZMP Japan Tour in August where my partner in crime Robert Zuckakis will visit me and we will prove to everyone definitively what being "Big in Japan" really means. Nothing at all. We'll play shows.

To make this dream a reality, we need to put our new album which is a collection of tracks and remixes we have gathered since our last album. 12 years worth of music, as well as a jazz cover version and a remix from our favorite 8-bit band YMCK.

More details to follow soon. In the meantime, please check out the following songs that will be on the album and pledge today to get this sucker into shops and people's ears.

Thank you,

Earl Mondeyano
