WHO AM I?

My name is Bjarney Anna Jóhannesdóttir, but I also go by Fnjósk. I am an Icelandic alternative musician who likes experimenting with sounds to create something new and cool. I wrote the album Rat Manicure back in 2013 under the name Sockface, with an accompanying art show.

WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?

Who are you? is an album that has been in the making for a while, and it's gotten to the point where I might burst if I don't get it out into the world. One way or another it has to happen, so I came to Karolinafund to search for help. I am always on the quest to become a “real” musician, whatever the requirements of that is I don't know. I need your help to finance the process of recording and releasing the album Who are you?.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I can't stop writing songs, and I want the world to hear them. They don't have to like them, but I'd appreciate it if they at least listen. I love making people happy and creating something they enjoy, as well as expressing my feelings through songs since it's the best way I have to express myself. As a side note, another dream of mine is to be an inspiration for young girls with Asperger's Syndrome or pretty much anywhere on the autism spectrum, since I had precious few of those growing up and I know the importance of having someone visible to show you that you can fulfill your dreams, despite – or even partially thanks to – being a little bit different.

PROJECT DETAILS

Who are you? Is a collection of about nine songs dealing with the psyche, self perception and the perception of the world around you. Sometimes it breaks into silliness too. Hopefully it will be released on Dec 1 2017, with an accompanying release concert that I would love to see as many of you as possible attend.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

To be able to make the album I need to fund the following:
Recording of the songs
Mixing the songs
Master the album
Print the cover
Print the CD
Make copies of the CD
Release the album

Then I can share it with you all and invite you to the release concert in Hof Music Hall in Akureyri on December 1, 2017, on my 25th birthday. Excited? Read on!

QUICK FACTS

Who is working on the album?
So far we've got a wonderful group of people. Kristján Edelstein is overseeing the recording process, Bjarney will sing her own songs and play various instruments and a few other wonderful people will be playing instruments as well.

Where does my money go?
Into the recording, mixing, mastering and production of the album, as well as to pay people involved, such as the nice people lending their help to play the backing instruments.

If the project doesn't fund, do I get my money back?
Of course you will. And if it does get funded, you will be receiving whatever reward you pledged for.

Will the backers be invited to a concert?
Yes, all of them are invited to the release concert in Akureyri, Iceland. If you can make it it'd be wonderful to have you!
