Further Information

Introductory video

This is how the app works

The app contains a wide variety of exercises you can do to increase your happiness and well-being. The app reminds you to do the exercises, sends words of encouragement and tracks your progress. You start by doing a few 3-week programs but later on you will be able to create your own program with your favourite exercises.

The making of the app

I have always been deeply interested in psychological well-being. I studied psychology and worked for 6 years at Kleppur, the psychiatric department of the National University Hospital. In those years I developed a passion for positive psychology, which focuses on the positive things in people's lives, i.e. their strengths, values and interests while traditional psychology focuses more on diagnosing what's wrong and finding ways to reduce symptoms. Recently I finished a masters level diploma in positive psychology and during my studies I discovered a wide variety of methods people can use to increase their own mental wellbeing and happiness.

The making of this app is my way of conveying the science of positive psychology to the public, so they can apply it to their own lives and increase their wellbeing. This assignment received funding from the Directorate of Health in Iceland, since it promotes mental health for the public. The funding covers programming of the first version of the app but that does not mark the end of the development. After users start using the app, we get very important feedback about the app and it's usability. It is very important that we use the feedback to fix things that are not working and optimize the app so that it works as well as possible.

This is why we need your support to fund this important part of the development of the app. This is an important project that will hopefully help a lot of people experience greater well-being and happiness.

By supporting this project you get a chance to attend lectures about positive psychology and ways to improve your own mental well-being and happiness.
