I have been working as a fashion designer since I graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2011.

I have held two solo exhibitions under my label YR, at the Reykjavík Fashion Festival. Last spring I exhibited a new and exciting clothing collection under the fashion label called ANOTHER CREATION.

I have been invited to work as artist in residence in Xiamen, southern China. This is an amazing opportunity for me to learn about new culture and develop my skills as a designer.
I'm following in the footsteps of many renowned artists and will likely form good relationships and hopefully future friends.

Chinese European Art Center operates a Gallery in close cooperation with the Academy in Xiamen, I will also hold lectures on Icelandic design and introduce students to the techniques I use in my work.

My project is to study new methods and techniques to further develop my ideas. I have a special interest in the ancient traditional treatments of silk, ie. dyeing, hand painting, embroidery and more. Which is a Chinese speciality. I want to offer interested sponsors handmade avant-garde silk dresses that I will develop during my period in China. I will use a draping on Mannequin method, first known in 3500 BCE from the times of Mesopotamia, inspired by my favorite designers of the twentieth century, Poul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet.
Draperd silk dresses are very beautiful, they adjust to the body and are light as feathers. You can support the project and get a really unique custom made silk evening gown, or you can support me with a lower amount and get a beautiful shirt, a hand painted fan or Lotus herbal tea from China.

This trip is an opportunity for me and hopefully the starting point for further adventures. Please help me make this dream a reality and give your self a precious silk dress (if you are male, then get one for your love) hand sewn and hand painted by me from ancient Chinese methods.

I really enjoy patternmaking and in my graduation project I was inspired by patchwork, here is a small clip where I go over my first jacket pattern for production, in total it was 68 pattern pieces and reversable.
