Steini is a recovering alcoholic who went on the wagon when his son was born. He has to hold down two jobs to make ends meet to be able to support his family. At the same time he neglects his own emotional and spiritual needs. He is not big on addressing issues and talking about his emotions and is almost like an extra in his own life. When fate plays a cruel game on him and he loses one of his jobs he gets entangled in a dance with a dubious partner.

FROM THE WRITER & DIRECTOR:

I started writing this story about 9 years ago during my second semester on the writer/director course in The Icelandic Film School. After graduating I visited the script again every now and again but I wasn't fully satisfied until in 2018. The budget was estimated 14.000.000 ISK, which is a bit much for a short film.
With the aid of my fellow producers we were able to lower that number and then get a production grant for 6.000.000 ISK from The Icelandic Film Centre. We shot the film during the first week of September last year. Since the film is by no means a low key production and in fact quite expensive we need some extra fundings to be able to finish the post-production, promotional material, distribution and festival fees.

ABOUT THE WRITER & DIRECTOR

Marzibil Sæmundardóttir graduated as a screenwriter &director from The Icelandic Film School back in 2013.

Her first film was the horror short Freyja, which was screened at Palm Springs Film Festival and RÚV (The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service). Her next two shorts, drama horror Jón Jónsson and the black comedy, The Unicorn, were both screened at RIFF and Northern Wave.

arCus Films is a film production company owned by filmmaker Marzibil Sæmundardóttir and her husband, actor & producer Ársæll Sigurlaugar Níelsson.

arCus specialises in anything cinematic, promotional videos, music videos, commercials, tv shows, documentaries and films.
The main agenda is to produce material written and developed by themselves, mainly focusing on short films, features and documentaries that stretch the boundaries of reality.
