If you enjoy alternative folk music in the vein of Neil Young, Tom Waits, Nick Cave and perhaps younger artists such as Eels and Bright Eyes, you're sure to get a kick out of One Bad Day.
For the past 15 years or so I have played music semi-professionally, wherever I could. Few things give me more joy than to tell people stories in song, and to share that joy. Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to be commissioned to write music for several theater productions, the last one being Í skugga Sveins, a musical version of one of the oldest plays in Icelandic history, the music from which has been widely praised. You could say that experience has been a motivating force to get me off my ass and move me to finally release some of the music I have accumulated over the years.
This album has been a long time coming - about ten years, in fact. But since I have a pretty bad case of anxiety disorder, I have always put it off. That's why I got a group of good friends together to push me along and motivate me to get the album finished. The album itself is basically finished now. Nothing left but a few finishing touches and then release. But in order to do that I need to go outside my close circle and reach out to the world to help me finance the thing.
I want to get this album out there digitally, on CD (in an eco friendly cardboard sleeve) and on a really nice vinyl record, which is of course the coolest way to collect music. It will be a 180 gram colored vinyl, and the album cover will open up to reveal the lyrics from the album. I have a lot of fun stuff planned for pledges, including house concerts, either just me or the whole band, a listening party at my house, where we'll have a beer and listen to the album before anybody else does, and of course autographed copies of the album, in addition to a nice release show.
I'm certain all lovers of Americana and folk music will find something to their liking on this album. The songs are varied, from reggae-esque rock songs to polka to country and anything in between. The style is simple, and it is mine. By all means listen to the examples here on the page, and find a pledge that appeals to you. Let's get this done and have a great time doing it.
Folk on.
